Verses That Get Me Through

After seeing the movie War Room, I decided to write down verses that get me through tough situations. The following verses are taped on my “prayer wall” to remind me of God’s love. When I am in pain and cry out, I know He will hear me.

Isaiah 46:4 ~ “I will be your God throughout your lifetime- until your hair is white with age. I made you, and I will care for you. I will carry you along and save you.”

2 Corinthians 1:3-4 ~ “All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. God is our merciful Father and the source of all comfort. He comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort others. When they are troubled, we will be able to give them the same comfort God has given us.”

Romans 8:18 ~ “Yet what we suffer now is nothing compared to the glory He will reveal to us later.”

Romans 8:28 ~ “And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to His purpose for them.”

Psalm 141:8 ~ “My eyes are fixed on You, O Sovereign Lord; in You I take refuge.”

Psalm 46:10 ~ “Be still, and know that I am God.”

Proverbs 3:5-6 ~ “Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.”

Psalm 38:8-9,15 ~ “I am feeble and utterly crushed; I groan in anguish of heart. All my longings lie open before you, O Lord; my sighing is not hidden from you. I wait for you, O LORD; you will answer, O Lord my God.”

Psalm 143:4,6-8 ~ “So my spirit grows faint within me; my heart within me is dismayed. I spread out my hands to you; my soul thirsts for you like a parched land. Answer me quickly, O LORD; my spirit fails. Do not hide your face from me or I will be like those who go down in the pit. Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love, for I have put my trust in you. Show me the way I should go, for to you I lift up my soul.”

Psalm 34:18 ~ “The LORD is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.”

John 16:22 ~ “Jesus said, ‘Now is your time of grief, but I will see you again and you will rejoice, and no one will take away your joy.'”

Lamentations 3:32-33 ~ “Though God brings grief, he will show compassion, so great is his unfailing love. For he does not willingly bring affliction or grief to the children of men.”

Psalm 30:5 ~ “…. weeping may remain for a night, but rejoicing comes in the morning.”

1 Peter 5:10 ~ “And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast. “

1 John 5:14 ~ “This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us.”

Psalm 18:6,16 ~ “In my distress I called to the LORD; I cried to my God for help. From his temple he heard my voice; my cry came before him, into his ears. He reached down from on high and took hold of me; he drew me out of deep waters.”

Psalm 120:1 ~ “I call on the LORD in my distress, and he answers me.”

Psalm 119:50 ~ “My comfort in my suffering is this: Your promise preserves my life.”

Psalm 55:22 ~ “Cast your cares on the LORD and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous fall.”

1 Peter 5:7 ~ “Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.”

Psalm 94:19 ~ “In the multitude of anxieties within me your comforts delight my soul.”

John 16:33 ~ “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”

2 Timothy 1:7 ~ “For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love and of self-discipline.”

Ecclesiastes 3:1-8,11 ~ “For everything there is a season, a time for every activity under Heaven. A time to be born and a time to die. A time to plant and a time to harvest. A time to kill and a time to heal. A time to tear down and a time to build up. A time to cry and a time to laugh. A time to grieve and a time to dance. A time to scatter stones and a time to gather stones. A time to embrace and a time to turn away. A time to search and a time to quit searching. A time to keep and a time to throw away. A time to tear and a time to mend. A time to be quiet and a time to speak. A time to love and a time to hate. A time for war and a time for peace….. God has made everything beautiful for its own time.”

Psalm 93:4 ~ “Mightier than the waves of the sea is His love for you.”

I’ll definitely be adding more to this as I find verses that touch my heart. Please feel free to comment some of your favorites that you would love to see here, or any other words of encouragement!
